NanotechItaly 2011

NanotechItaly 2011, is jointly organised by AIRI/Nanotec IT, Veneto Nanotech, the National Research Council (CNR) and the Italian Institute of Technology, in collaboration with Federchimica and Politecnico of Torino (Latemar Research Center).

In the Opening Session, Prof. Albert Fert, Nobel Prize for Physics in 2007 and
Prof. Fabio Beltram, Director of the Scuola Normale of Pisa, will give their introductory lectures. Amongst the other key notes already confirmed: Dr. Christos Tokamanis, Head of Unit Nanotechnologies, DG Research, European Commission, Dr. Andreas Wild, Executive Director, Eniac Joint Undertaking, Prof. Gregory Lanza, Kereos and Washington University Medical School, Prof. Gert Storm, Institute for Pharmaceutical Sciences, Utrecth University, Dr. Kai Sovalainen, Finnish Institute of Occupational Health.

More than 150 oral and poster presentations are expected during the scientific sessions of the 3 days event, from national and international leading edge companies, universities, research centres, entrepreneurs.

The three day event will address themes that are challenging modern society to promote a responsible innovation:

New materials, Processes and Manufacturing
Surface technologies, composite nanotech, nanoporous materials, nanofibers, carbon based and other nanomaterials, nanocatalysts
Cold spray & thermal spray deposition technologies (metallic, composites, ceramic materials)
Health and life sciences - Nanomedicine
Molecular diagnostics and recognition, bio-compatible materials and layers, tissue engineering/regenerative medicine, biomolecular sensors, nanoparticles therapy, drug delivery
Smart transportation
Storage, batteries, photovoltaic systems, micro energy generation, energy saving
Safe living
Safe buildings: sensors, construction materials, lighting, indoor air quality, furniture
Security: identification, counterfeiting
ICT & Nanoelectronics
Nanostructured sensors, optical materials and devices, MEMS/NEMS, memories and logic devices, magnetic materials and devices, nano-robotics
Responsible development - Nano-toxicology
Regulation, risk assessment (EHS), risk management (workers and consumers safety), social and ethical issues, standards
Call for posters
Contributions should address scientific and industrial developments in the above areas. The abstracts will be reviewed by an Advisory Committee composed of representatives of private and public research and industry.
Application to the call for posters can be submitted till the 12th of September 2011 (instructions available on www.nanotechitaly.it).
